Year Walk Plushes

Description

Look at that, I made plushes of every folkloric creature you encounter in the game "Year Walk"!  It's a really cool game about Swedish folklore that has a neat aesthetic to it- all old-timey and mysterious, just the way I like it.  Just be careful of jumpscares- it is a spooky game after all. It's available on Steam, those Iphone-jiggy-whatsits, and it was just released with some extra stuff on the WiiU!  I'm totally buying it and playing it again on the WiiU now because I'm just that in love with this game.

In the top left corner are the Mylings.  I almost forgot to make some for this photoshoot because I was just really disturbed by them and their story in the game, and I guess I just conveniently tried to wipe their existence from my mind.  There's nothing like opening an encyclopedia and discovering a baby ghost bleeding all over the page about Mylings to cheer you up.  o_o

Top right corner is the Huldra.  I enjoyed making the sticks to go in her hair, and making up what I though she looked like from the back.  From what I've read on huldras, they have wooden hollows in their backs, and it's probably not a good idea to touch those hollows.  At all.   But this huldra is pretty chill...lookit her cute little happy face.  Just don't hang around if she decides to open her eyes...

Bottom left corner is the Brook Horse.  Such a dapper, well-dressed horse.  I liked making his suit.  And giving him pants.  You don't really see the Brook Horse from the waist down, so I made up the bottom half.  Darn horses sitting in the river and not getting out so you can see what their lower halves look like...

Bottom right corner is the Night Raven.  I simplified its head a bit to make it a sort of chibi plush.  It's kind of odd to cutesify a creature that burst out of the mouth of a raven...The uh..black bit at the bottom of its tail is pretty much what's left of that poor raven.

And in the middle is the Church Grim.  This was my favorite plush to make, 'cause I got to make a tiny heart underneath its cloak.  Plus, it's a goat, and I like goats, so that made it quite enjoyable to work on.  I almost wanted to put a squeaker under the heart so that if you touched it, you got a cute sound instead of...what happened in-game. I've probably doomed myself to being hunted down by the Church Grim by thinking of all of these ridiculous things to do to it...

I'm glad nobody asked me what I was making when I worked on these plushes, 'cause it would be incredibly awkward to explain that I'm making the lost souls of dead children...or that I made a giant bird that came out of a little bird, and it still has the little bird attached to it...
